A digital hub for anti-poverty advocacy

Mark PetersenCollaboration, Follow-Up Report

In 2017, Stronger Together invested $60,000 into the development of a virtual anti-poverty hub for the sharing of education and resources by Christian organizations and managed by FH Canada, an international development organization based in British Columbia. The result? Ending Poverty Together. Their goal was to see 8 organizations collaborate. Currently there are 21, with more to come.

Shelaine Strom, Manager of Educations for FH Canada took the lead role on the project and hired a Content Manager to build the site. By the end of 2018, Ending Poverty Together was launched. Suggested communication and marketing plans were provided to each of the official collaborators for them to introduce their networks to the site as well.

Strom found the level of desire among like-minded organizations for working together to be high. This platform has already led to multiple opportunities to cross-promote, share information, and provide encouragement and support. As well, FH’s communications team offers ongoing support for the promotion of this site by collaborating organizations.

The benefit of this project is that Canadians will have:

  1. A fuller understanding of poverty and its root issues,
  2. A one-stop access to faith-based resources and tools,
  3. The ability to pick materials most pertinent to their unique setting and needs, and
  4. The opportunity to collaborate with others for information sharing and joint efforts.
