The Canadian Association of Pregnancy Support Services (CAPSS) is a small umbrella group that provides resources to over 70 pregnancy care centres across Canada. Many of these are very small charities in far-flung towns that are often overlooked. Their unique solution, endorsed by Stronger Together, is to train five regional consultants and deploy them into the regions.
Project Name: | National Consultant Team |
Grant Amount: | $11,000.00 |
Purpose of Investment: | To create resources and train five regional consultants to assist in strengthening pregnancy care centres in localities across Canada. |
Participating Grantmakers: | Acts of Grace Foundation, Bridgeway Foundation, John & Rebecca Horwood, Mitchell Family Foundation |
Measurable Outcomes:
#1: Create and produce a CAPSS Consultants’ Manual by October 31, 2015. This manual will contain developed power points for: role clarification for board and staff, strategic planning, conflict resolution, and introducing limited healthcare foundations.
#2: Select and train five CAPSS Consultants by November 30, 2015. The process will be open to all affiliates and will be threefold: application, interview, and selection. Successful applicants will be selected based on experience (with pregnancy care centre staff, volunteer, and board), availability, and geographic location. Training will take place over 3 days at CAPSS’ office.
#3: Four pregnancy care centre consultations performed by trained CAPSS consultants by May 31, 2016. This is a realistic goal as already in 2015, CAPSS has done 1 consultation and has one booked; we expect more requests from affiliates once trained consultants are available in their region.
