A Bold Investment in Public Life

We are delighted to celebrate Bridgeway Foundation’s $2.5 million grant to Cardus, a generous five-year investment (2026–2030) that will significantly strengthen Christian thought leadership and public engagement in Canada.

This landmark grant was announced at the Cardus 25 Gala, held on November 21, 2025, at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa, where hundreds of supporters gathered to mark Cardus’s 25th anniversary. The announcement was a defining moment in an evening dedicated to gratitude, reflection, and a shared vision for the future of faithful public presence in Canada.

Over the next five years, Bridgeway’s support will anchor Cardus’s long-term presence in Ottawa, positioning it as a trusted convener and contributor near Parliament Hill. Often described as a “living room of faithful presence,” Cardus’s Ottawa hub will continue to host high-level conversations that bring together policymakers, scholars, faith leaders, and civil society partners committed to the common good.

A significant portion of this grant will also fuel next-generation leadership development. Through the NextGEN Fellowship Program—including the establishment of the Reg & Carol Petersen Scholarship—Cardus will form sixty emerging leaders over five years. These young professionals will be equipped to integrate faith, wisdom, and public responsibility within their respective spheres of influence. This program will continue to expand over time, incorporating additional cohorts and pathways as Cardus deepens its commitment to leadership formation.

In addition, the grant substantially strengthens Cardus Family, a core area of Cardus’s research and policy work. Over the five-year term, Cardus Family will produce rigorous research reports and policy briefs addressing family stability, fertility, and parent-based childcare—contributing thoughtful, evidence-based perspectives to Canada’s public conversation.

Bridgeway Foundation’s investment represents a profound vote of confidence in Cardus’s mission and future. It ensures that, as Cardus enters its next quarter-century, it does so with renewed capacity to serve Canada faithfully and thoughtfully.
