Priorities for 2026

Mission

Motivated by Christian faith, the Thorogood Family Fund supports a wide variety of selected charities benefiting the most marginalized in Toronto, in the province of Ontario, and elsewhere through grants and involvement.

Geographic Focus

  • Greater Toronto Area
  • Ontario
  • A limited number of internationally-focused charities will also be invited to apply.

Size of Grants

  • A variety of grant requests will be considered up to $25,000.

Eligibility

  • Charities become eligible for consideration after completing a Charity Survey.
  • Beneficiaries must be registered Canadian charities.
  • Past grant recipients are eligible for new funding when the outcomes of their previous project have been completed.

Reporting

  • All charities receiving grants from the Fund will be encouraged to report back on progress made every six months until completion for the outcomes they propose.

Granting Process

  • Complete the Charity Survey well in advance of the timetable listed below.
  • Stronger Philanthropy will invite shortlisted charities to be interviewed.
  • Upon approval by client, shortlisted charities will receive an emailed invitation to apply for a grant.
  • Unsolicited applications are not accepted.

Timetable

  • Stronger Philanthropy will email invitations to charities to apply on or after October 5, 2026.
  • Applications will be considered by members of Thorogood Family Fund on or after November 13, 2026, with grants awarded soon after.

Next Steps

  • Make your organization eligible by responding to the Charity Survey.
  • You only need to respond to the Charity Survey once. Once we have it, your organization is available to be considered by all clients.
  • We will contact you if we need you to update your survey or if you’ve been selected to complete a grant application.
